| AJ Calloway (born Albert Calloway) is the former host of popular BET music video countdown show 106 and Park: BET's Top 10 Live. After co-hosting the show for five years with Free (Marie Wright), he left the show on July 28, 2005. There are many supposed rumors about why he left the show, but we can now be fairly certain he left due to a contract dispute with BET's upper management. Calloway was offered only a three-month extension with a fair guarantee that he and Free would not be extended further after that, in order to give BET a "fresh," younger feel. Calloway decided to leave the show to pursue other endeavors, including opening a restaurant in New York City called Mahogany.
