| Alan Davies (born 6 March 1966, in Essex, England) is an English comedian and actor. He won the Time Out award for Best Young Comic in 1991. In 1995 he appeared in the spoof travel show One for the Road and got his own radio show The Alan Davies Show in 1998. He has also starred in Jonathan Creek, Bob and Rose and A Many Splintered Thing. He has most recently appeared as the regular panellist in the BBC quiz game QI hosted by Stephen Fry. Rumours tipped him to be the Ninth Doctor in Doctor Who, but the role went to Christopher Eccleston. On January 1, 2004, it was reported in the news that Alan Davies had married Julia Sawalha, his co-star in the later series of Jonathan Creek. Both Davies and Sawalha deny the event.
