Anant Nag is an actor and politician from Karnataka, India. In addition to Kannada language movies, he has acted in Marathi, Malayalam and Hindi movies. He has also acted in a teleserial - Malgudi Days, based on the stories in the fictional town of Malgudi created by R.K.Narayan. It was directed by his brother, Shankar Nag. Anant Nag's best performance in Malayalam can be cited from the 1983 movie 'Swathi Thirunal' where he played the role of the legendary king of ancient kerala who was a great patron of arts,music and literature.His work was much appreciated by critics at that time.He is right now a politician. He contested a very fierce Lok Sabha election from Janata dal(S) where he was pitched against the then Chief minister of Karnataka,S.M.Krishna from Indian National Congress,alongside fellow actor Mukhyamantri Chandru from Bharatiya Janata Party in the Chamrajpet constituency in Bangalore in 2004. however S.M.Krishna won the elections and post elections there was wide spread controversy of missing voters and bogus voters.S.M.Krishna did not continue for much long,as he was packed of to become the governor of Maharashtra.
