Hayden-Smith is a well-known and regular CBBC on-air presenter. Hailing from the North East of England, he has become a popular member of the on-air team and has a long list of other TV presenting and acting credits. Hayden-Smith became a 'heart-throb' while playing Ben in the CBBC drama Byker Grove. He was so popular with viewers that CBBC soon snapped him up onto its presenting team. When Hayden-Smith is away from the TV screens and the stage he loves keeping fit. He is a keen footballer, enjoys swimming and athletics and also likes the odd game of pool and snooker.

Hayden-Smith announced he was gay in Attitude, February 2005.

Hayden-Smith will appear in the episode Rise of the Cybermen of the 2006 season of Doctor Who.
