| Madeline Angela Clinton-Baddeley CBE (July 4, 1904, in London - February 22, 1976 in London) was an English character actress known as Angela Baddeley. She was the elder sister of actress Hermione Baddeley. She is remembered today primarily for her television role as Mrs. Bridges, the cook on the seminal British TV series Upstairs, Downstairs. She died in 1976 of pneumonia at the age of 71, shortly after Upstairs Downstairs finished being shown on television. Had she lived it is likely that a spin series, with her reprising her role as Mrs. Bridges and Gordon Jackson back as Mr Hudson, would have made. This would have been set in the Boarding house they had moved to at the end of Upstairs Downstairs.
