| Anna Maria Crouch (April 20, 1763 - October 2, 1805) was a famous actress in the London theatre and a mistress of George, Prince of Wales. She first went on stage as a child, acting and singing. She performed frequently at the Drury Lane theatre, notably as Polly Peachum in The Beggar's Opera. In 1784 she married a Mr. Crouch, but in 1787 she began her notorious liaison with the Irish actor and singer, Michael Kelly. In 1790, she came to Brighton to perform at the opening of the Duke Street Theatre. Her affair with the Prince of Wales occurred while he was living with Maria Anne Fitzherbert and was very brief, but she benefited financially. She is buried in St Nicholas's churchyard, Brighton.
