Ayesha Takia (born August 20, 1986; Mumbai, India) is a Bollywood
actress.

Biography

Some fan-sites & magazines claim that she was born on 10th of April, some claim she was born on 10th of August and some say that she was born on 20th of August, however the year of 1986 is same through-out. Ayesha grew up in Mumbai, the center of the Bollywood movie industry. She comes from a mixed family of various ethnic origins. Her father is Gujarati, and her mother is half British and half Maharashtrian. She grew up speaking English at home and had to learn Hindi for her film roles.

Career

She has been a photographic model since she was four years old. She appeared in a music video, Phalguni Pathak's "Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye", when she was only fifteen. Her video "Shake it Daddy" was a hit.

Her video fame gave her the entree into Bollywood. She signed a contract for Socha na tha, then for Taarzan: The Wonder Car. However, delays in making Socha na tha meant that Taarzan released first and was therefore her "debut" film. She has also worked on Dil Maange More
, Shaadi No.1, and in a Telgu movie, Super, which was released in January of 2006.

She won the Filmfare Best Debut Award 2004 for her performance in Taarzan.

In 2006, Ayesha Takia was listed among the top ten in India's 50 Most Desirable Women Alive, a poll conducted by Zoom, an Indian television channel.
