Baby Herman is a fictional character who first appeared in the book Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, which was loosely translated into the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit
. Herman and Roger Rabbit comprised an Abbott and Costello-like comedy team for the (equally fictitious) Maroon Cartoons studio in the 1940s. A typical Roger/Baby Herman cartoon consists of Roger being given responsibility for Baby Herman's well-being; Herman immediately begins crawling through a number of dangerous situations from which Roger must rescue him. In the process, Roger suffers extravagant injuries and humiliations reminiscent of those in classic Tex Avery cartoons.

Despite his name, "Baby Herman" is actually a middle-aged, cigar-smoking toon who happens to look like an infant ("My problem is I got a 50 year old's lust and a 3 year old's dinky"). While filming "in character", he speaks gibberish in a typical baby voice; off-camera, he has a loud, gruff voice. He is voiced by Lou Hirsch (his off-stage "adult" voice) and April Winchell (the on-screen baby voice).
