Bahman Ghobadi (born February 1 1969) is a Kurdish Iranian film director.

Ghobadi was born in Baneh, in the Kurdistan Province of Iran. Because of civil war, his family moved to Sanandaj in 1981. He received a Bachelor of Arts in film directing from the Iranian Broadcasting College. After a brief career in industrial photography, Ghobadi began making short 8mm films. His documentary Life In Fog won numerous awards. Ghobadi was assistant director on Abbas Kiarostami's The Wind Will Carry Us
. His first feature film was A Time for Drunken Horses
in 2000, the first Kurdish film produced in Iran. His second feature was Marooned in Iraq (2002). His third feature, Turtles Can Fly
, followed in 2004.

Ghobadi's new film, Nimeh Mah or Nîwe Mang, is about a group of musicians. The movie has been shot in Sanandaj's country side. Very well known actors and actresses as Hedyeh Tehrani, Golshifteh Farahani and Hasan Pour-Shirazi are playing roles in the film. Hedyeh Tehrani is also acting as assistant to Bahman Ghobadi in his new film. The music of this film was made by Hossein Alizadeh, a highly celebrated master of Iranian musics. Bahman Ghobadi founded Mij Film in 2000, a company with the aim of production of films in Iran about its different ethnic groups.
