(born June 10, 1960) in Nimmakuru, Andhra Pradesh and popularly known as Balayya is the son of Telugu film actor and former chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. He hails from a well established Telugu film family. He himself is a popular Telugu film actor.

He entered the film Industry in 1974 at the age of 14 by acting in Tatammakala(Grand mother's dream), a film produced by his father. He had been acting in movies for the past 27 years. At the age of 16, he acted in a film Annadammula Anubandham which brought him name and fame. Following this, he acted in other movlies, Roudi Ramudu Konte Krishnudu, Dana Veera Sura Karna. In 1984, he acted in a movie Mangamma Gari Manavadu that made him a popular young actor in Andhra Pradesh. Later he acted in Kathanayakudu , Sri Madvirat Potuluri Virabrahmendra Swamy Charitra. His recent hit movies include Lakshmi Narasimha, Samara Simha Reddy, Narasimha Naidu, Peddannayya, Chenna Kesava Reddy, Aditya 369, Muddula Krishnayya, Bobbili Simham, Bhargava Ramudu and so on. He has a huge devoted fan following.

Balayya is the only actor among his contemporaries with an inclination towards experimenting in his films. He has acted in every kind of genre ranging from Jaanapadam(Bhairava Dweepam) to Science fiction(Aditya 369). He is also well known for being a trend setter. He set a trend of faction films in telugu with two huge hits Samarasimha reddy and Narasimha naidu, which is now the most popular genre in telugu cinema. These two hits of his redefined the box office stamina of the telugu film industry. Balayya's most popular role is that of a righteous village lad which he fits to the 'T'. Completely clad in white with a stick in his hands, he is a visual treat in this role. It is roles like these that endeared him to the telugu audience. He is still going strong with the film Veerabhadra(Manchiki manchi punch ki punch, batimaalite balakrishnudu, virraveegithe veerabhadrudu is the tagline) hitting the theatres soon. This film is expected to break all the records in the telugu film industry.
