| The Barrymore family is a famous theatrical and movie family in the United States. Its most recent famous member is actress Drew Barrymore. The family has gained a reputation for both its acting talent and its tendencies for drug and alcohol abuse. Actor Herbert Arthur Chamberlayne Blyth (1849-1905), who was born in India and educated in England, took the stage name of Maurice Barrymore. He married actress Georgianna "Georgie" Emma Drew (1856-1893), herself from a stage family: her brother (John Drew Jr. "the younger" (1853-1927)) and her parents John Drew "the elder" and Louisa Lane Drew (best known as an adult as Mrs. John Drew (1820-1897)), were all actors. Louisa, born in Britain, had toured the United States as a child star and was herself the child of actors. Maurice and Georgie had three famous children, all renowned actors:
