Actors - Bille Brown

Bille Brown (born 1952 at Biloela, Queensland, Australia), studied drama at the University of Queensland. He is a well-known Shakespearean actor and is an acclaimed writer of plays.

Bille Brown is a member of the Queensland Theatre Company, with one of his fellow actors in the QTC being Geoffrey Rush
.

During a night-time performance with the Queensland Theatre Company, at the open air Albert Park Amphitheatre (now the Roma Street Parklands Amphitheatre), of William Shakespeare's play, "Much Ado About Nothing" (which had been reset in Italy during World War II), an airliner flew over the amphitheatre. Bille Brown, who was alone on stage at the time in the character of Benedick, stopped his soliloquy in mid-sentence and walked to the edge of the stage and looked up at the airliner. He then looked directly at the audience and said "reassuringly": It's okay, it's one of our's - Alitalia!.

He also appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford and London, in England, where he was noticed by John Cleese
. Cleese was so impressed by Bille Brown's performance, in the Shakespeare play, that he personally asked Bille Brown to appear in his movie Fierce Creatures
.

Bille Brown has also appeared in movies, including: The Dish
(in which he appeared as the Prime Minister), and Oscar and Lucinda
(in which he appeared as Percy Smith).

Bille Brown has been a visiting Professor at the State University of New York College at New Paltz, and has also appeared on stage at Broadway in New York.
