| Robert "Bob" Homme, CM , B.Sc (1919 - May 2 2000) was an American-born television actor perhaps best known as the eponymous host of The Friendly Giant, a popular Canadian children's television program in the 1960s and 1970s which was broadcast on the CBC. He was invested into the Order of Canada as a Member on November 2, 1998 at Rideau Hall allowing him to use the Post Nominal Letters "C.M." He was born in 1919 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, USA and died on May 2, 2000 in Grafton, Ontario, of prostate cancer.
