Brandy Alexandre (born on July 17, 1964 in Huntington Beach, California) is an American adult actress.

Career

Alexandre was born to Mormon parents, the youngest of three sisters. Although raised in the Mormon faith, as an adult she has professed to be an atheist calling it "science over superstition." She dropped out of high school as a teenager, and would later pass an equivalency exam.

Her entry into adult films was influenced by her association with Bill Margold, with whom she shared an apartment in the mid 1980s. He suggested that she enter a Miss Nude contest - she not only took the suggestion, she then went on to win the contest. Soon after that she entered the adult film industry, and has suggested that she did so as a means to annoy her then ex-boyfriend, who had introduced her to Margold in an effort to convince her to do porn when they were together. Alexandre first performed in a "catfight" video, Showdown at the Errogenous Zone (1985), where she turns into a mannequin. Her first on-camera sex scene was in a video in the gay male genre, Best Friends 2 (1987). Though her chosen stage name is the name of a cocktail, she claims it is also because of the meaning of the two names: Brandy meaning "brave leader," and Alexandre "leader of men (she opted for the French spelling).

In 1991, Alexandre directed, produced, wrote, and starred in Cheeks 5: Cop A Feel, and is widely regarded as the first woman to have accomplished this feat in the adult video industry. This movie garnered her a nomination as AVN's Best Director. She also directed, produced, and wrote the 1992 video Best Butt(e) in the West, her last adult film performance. Other significant industry nominations include Best Sex Scene for the video Making Tracks (1991), and Best Supporting Actress for the video Mystic Pieces (1989).

Alexandre left the adult industry in 1992, although her new work continued to be released into 1993.

In 1991, Alexandre appeared on the TV show The People's Court, suing another ex-boyfriend John Stagliano for royalties from the movie Buttman Goes To Rio, as well as pain and suffering caused by the break-up of the relationship. She asked for a total of $5000, and although she won on the count of the royalties, she lost on her attempt for pain and suffering penalties. She was awarded a total of $1228, plus an appearance fee. Judge Joseph Wapner said, "If I let you get away with money damages because you took the break-up harder than he did, every woman in California who's ever been jilted would be filing suit tomorrow."

After leaving the adult film industry, Alexandre worked for three years as a secretary at Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries (she was a secretary before entering porn), a well known cemetery organization in Southern California. Malicious individuals posted her work phone number on the Internet, encouraging others to call and notify her employers of her past in pornographic films. When this happened, Alexandre lost her job, but later received a settlement for an undisclosed sum, and has since been known for her opinion that adult actors should only be referred to by their industry aliases, even in reference works, unless the actor has publicly revealed their true name or by their activities caused their name to be revealed in the mainstream media.
