| Butterflies is a song written by UK Neo-soul duo Floetry, for singer Michael Jackson. The song was planned to be the third single release from Invincible, and scheduled for release on February 12, 2002. For reasons unexplained, Sony cancelled the release of the single which caused a lot of controversy and sparked allegations, made by Jackson, that Sony was a racist company who did not care about their black artists. The song was however released to US radio stations and climbed to #2 on the US R&B charts, based on airplay alone. It also peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Some say the song is reminiscent of Steve March's 1977 song "Sweet for the Dutchman".
