Carlos Agassi was born on December 12, 1979. He is half Filipino and half Iranian. Real name is Amir Carlos Damaso Vahidi Agassi. Carlos is a Filipino actor and model. He is with ABS-CBN and hosts ASAP '06 , stars in BORA, and will soon play as an anti protagonist in Panday. Carlos Agassi is also known for his talent at rapping, hosting, acting, and is a member of the hunks.

The following day, he called me kaagad for a pictorial for Sara Lee and I got paid like 8,000 just to pose for like half day lang, 8-12 ngiti-ngiti lang ako, kasama ko noon mga sikat na sina Joanna Pascual, tapos yung cover pa non si Sharon Cuneta. So I gave it a try, I did VTRs, I was 16, and eventually in 10 months ---my first commercial was Bench, it was an international commercial...

Carlos is a happy person. He always has that smile on his face that reflects his positive outlook in life. He established a sure-hit campaign against drugs, the Carlos Agassi Basketball League in Puerto Princesa Palawan, with the help of his friends and fans of course.

This BS Psychology student from the De La Salle University is actually looking for his dream girl. Away from the set, his friends call him Amir (which means a prince). This guy is breaking into new grounds---rap music. Recently, he launched his first album, "Amir of Rap" with "Magpakatotoo ka" as his carrier single.

Then I did Rexona, yun ang talagang nag-hit, and then, I did ‘Mr Donuts’, two series of commercials and then I did Johnson and Johnson. And then talent center sa ABS-CBN gave a call sa office niya, gustong makita yung guys sa commercials, they thought that there were a number of different guys in all the above mentioned commercials, when in fact it was just one guy.... And then I was launched for Star Circle Batch 3 and then they asked me if I know how to sing, dance and act, sabi ko I’m willing to learn.”

"I have spent more than a million pesos already not including promotions for radio," he said during a recent press conference. "The way I see it, this amount is just scratch on the surface. By the time I’m done, I expect to have spent double if not triple."

Three factors have made this bid to go independent challenging for Agassi. First, he only has two shows in ABS-CBN ("Bora" and "ASAP 05") and a US tour with The Hunks from which he can cull financial resource. Second, the current OPM trend tips towards rock bands versus rap acts like him.

Third is his image as beef-cake actor that doesn’t seem to go down well with local rap fans. Though his eponymous debut album was able to chalk up Gold records status, the follow-up ("Can Agassi Rap Like Old School" produced by Andrew E), barely passed the ten thousandth mark.

Still, Agassi won’t be discouraged but, instead, shall utilize his opportunities. In his upcoming US tour, he’ll be bringing along copies of his new CD for Filipinos there that had been clamoring to see him rap again.

To remedy the second and third, Agassi had enlisted rapper Gloc-9 as producer from whom he learned how to translate ‘street credibility’ on record.

" ‘Amir’ definitely showcases what I can do as a rapper that I wasn’t able to show in my last outputs," said Agassi. "Even people from Star Records were unable to believe their ears when they heard the new tracks. It was like, ‘So, where’s Carlos?’ They did not recognize the rapping I did here at all. Wait, until they and the fans see the videos (four in all). Talagang pinagkagastusan ko ang mga ito by involving only award-winning people and utilizing the latest technology."
