Chris Klein (born Frederick Christopher Klein on March 14 1979 in Hinsdale, Illinois) is a United States actor best known for his roles in American Pie, Election
, and Here on Earth.

Klein grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, and moved to Omaha, Nebraska, as a young teenager. As a senior in high school, Klein was offered his first professional acting job by director Alexander Payne, who was scouting Millard West High School as a potential filming location for the movie "Election."

Klein briefly attended Texas Christian University, where he studied theatre and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

In early 2004 he became engaged to long-time girlfriend Katie Holmes, but as of early 2005 the engagement was broken off. After she became engaged to Tom Cruise, Holmes initially claimed that she was still close to Klein and talked with him daily. Klein disputed her story in a November 2005 interview with Details magazine.

Trivia

Klein has one false front tooth. He lost the original in a football accident in high school.
Arrested for drunk driving in February 2005.
Klein has an older sister named Debbie and a younger brother named Tim.
