| Christopher Hancock ( 5th June, 1928 - 29 September, 2004) is a British actor best known for playing conman Charlie Cotton in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders from 1986 until 1991. His character was killed off in 1991 but his death was not shown on-screen. He still however reprised his role as Charlie's Ghost in 2000 in a spin-off episode titled The Return of Nick Cotton which was his last TV appearance before his death in 2004 aged 76. He has also appeared in many more British TV series such as Z Cars, Casualty and Softly Softly. His brother Stephen Hancock appeared in rival soap opera Coronation Street in 1969-1978 playing Ernest Bishop.
