| "Cygnet Committee" is a song written by David Bowie in 1969 for his second eponymously-titled album (released in the US as Man of Words, Man of Music and rereleased in 1972 as Space Oddity). Ticking in at over 9 minutes this ambitious progressive folk-rock song was Bowie's longest studio recording until the opening/title track of 1976's Station to Station. It was released as the B-side of the East-European single "The Width of a Circle" in June 1973. It also appeared on the Japanese compilation The Best of David Bowie from 1972. Bowie played this song at "The Sunday Show" introduced by John Peel on February 2nd, 1970. The show was broadcast on February 8th and in 2000 released on Bowie at the Beeb - Best of the BBC Sessions 68-72.
