David Wayne (born Wayne James McMeekan on 30 January 1914 in Traverse City, Michigan; died 9 February 1995 in Santa Monica, California) was a Broadway, film, and television actor, with a career spanning nearly half a century. Most often a supporting player, he was memorable as a charming cad opposite Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn in Adam's Rib. He also played the "Mad Hatter," one of the recurring villains in the 1960s TV series "Batman." He was most recently well-known as the curmudgeonly Dr. Amos Wetherby in the TV series House Calls.
