Dean Winters (born on 20 July 1964 in New York City, New York, USA) is an American actor best known for his portrayal of the machiavellian Ryan O'Reilly on HBO's Oz. He has also appeared in the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He has also made guest appearances on Sex and the City, Third Watch, NYPD Blue, CSI: Miami and Rescue Me, among others.

Dean starred in the 1999 romantic comedy Undercover Angel
with Yasmine Bleeth.

Dean has three younger siblings, Bradford Winters (a poet/writer), Scott William Winters and his sister Blair. Scott is also an actor who portrayed Ryan O'Reily's brother Cyril O'Reilly on the T.V. show Oz.

Dean has Italian and Irish heritage and can speak fluent Italian.
