Deepika Padukone, born 1986, is the daughter of famous former professional badminton player Prakash Padukone. She is currently making her debut in a film in Kannada opposite Upendra. She is also making her debut in Hindi in Priyadarshan's upcoming film, Pirate. She will also be in Farah Khan's second directorial venture, Happy New Year which is slated for an early 2007 release. Deepika made her debut in modeling in 2005 and soon became popular in fashion world. Though she has been getting new offers everyday, she has remained selective and has not appeared nude in any photos. She was also featured in Himesh Reshammiya's music video, Aap Ka Suroor. Without having any background in Bollywood, Deepika has taken a course in acting under Anupam Kher and is considering a couple of scripts. Deepika is an internationally-known model, but her modeling may take a backseat after she switches to Bollywood.
