| Douglas Croft (1926-1963) was an early American child actor who is best remembered for being the first actor to portray the DC Comics character Robin, the Boy Wonder in a 1943 serial simply titled Batman. He was a 16 year old boy. Douglas Croft was the only actor to look the right age for Robin, the Boy Wonder (John Duncan was 26 years old in the 1949 serial, Burt Ward went from age 21 in 1966 to 23 in 1968 on television series, Batman. and Chris O'Donnell was 24 years old in Batman Forever and 26 years old in Batman & Robin). Douglas Croft was born in Seattle, Washington. During his brief career, he was involved in many film roles playing the younger versions of characters or famous people. This includes portrayals of George M. Cohan and Lou Gehrig. He died young (at 37) in Los Angeles, California.
