Edward Furlong (born Edward Walter Torres on August 2, 1977 in Glendale, California) is an American actor most remembered for playing young John Connor in the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day
.

Biography

He was born in Glendale, California, near Burbank. He is also well-known supporter of animal rights.

He was the son of Elenor Torres (by an unidentified father), and was raised by his uncle and aunt (Sean and Nancy Furlong), whose surname he eventually took.

Career

Furlong started his film career as John Connor on Terminator 2: Judgment Day
, a role that earned him an MTV Movie Award for best breakthrough role and a Saturn Award for best young actor. He was discovered for the part by the casting director of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, when Furlong was at the Pasadena Boys and Girls Club.

He followed this role with a string of moderately successful films and indies, sharing screen with actors like Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson in Before and After, Tim Roth in Little Odessa
, and others. In 1998, he had another important role when he starred in American History X
alongside Edward Norton.

He was set to reprise his role of John Connor
in the third part, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
but couldn't commit due to legal problems for his trouble with drugs and alcohol. He is rumored to be returning for the fourth installment of the series.

In 1993, he was featured in an Aerosmith music video for "Living on the Edge".

Personal life

Furlong has been linked to numerous celebrities during his career. In 1998, he was involved in a scandal with his agent Jacqueline Domac with whom he had been romantically involved for ten years when he was a minor and she was his tutor . Both separated in 1999 in the midst of this controvery and allegations of abuse. After separating, he was linked with Natasha Lyonne for two years, and then with Paris Hilton. He has been seen recently with Megan Nicole Sheley.
