Eileen Ryan is a NYC-born (circa 1927) American actress who has appeared in a number of movies and TV series. She was the wife of the late actor and director Leo Penn. She is also mother of actor Sean Penn, singer Michael Penn and the late actor Chris Penn.

Born to an Irish-Italian (see) Roman Catholic family, she married Penn, a Jewish actor and active union member who was once blacklisted. They were married from 1958 until his death in 1998.

Eileen Ryan appeared with her two actor sons Sean Penn and Chris Penn in the 1986 film At Close Range
. She played the part of their grandmother in the film.
