Elizabeth Hartman (December 23, 1943 - June 10, 1987) was an American actress. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she debuted in the 1965 film A Patch of Blue
, a role which garnered her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress
.

She went on to star in three well-received films, The Group, You're a Big Boy Now
and The Beguiled
, but continuing depression interfered with her career. She was also the voice of Mrs. Brisby in The Secret of NIMH
. In 1987, she jumped from a fifth floor window in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after calling her psychiatrist to tell him that she was feeling despondent.
