Eric McCormack (born on April 18, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is an Emmy Award-winning Canadian-American actor.

Educated and trained as an actor in Canada at Ryerson University, McCormack has been appearing in television productions since his debut in 1986.

His role as the somewhat homomasculine gay lawyer in the NBC comedy series Will & Grace has brought him his most widespread success to date. Nominated for Emmy Awards on three occasions for this role, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy in 2001.

During the 1999-2000 Broadway season, McCormack briefly portrayed Prof. Harold Hill (replacing Craig Bierko) in the Susan Stroman revival of The Music Man
while on hiatus from Will & Grace.

Although he plays a gay man in Will and Grace, McCormack is actually heterosexual. He has been married to Janet Holden since 1997, and they have a son, Finnigan Holden McCormack.

He has also recorded a song for an album called Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars called The Greatest Discovery which was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, which shows that he can also sing as well as act.
