| Ernest E. Chappell was born in 1903 and died on July 4, 1983. Chappell was the host of the late 1940's radio program Quiet Please. The show ran from 1947 to 1949. Although Quiet Please appears to have been his only major acting credit, on February 10 1925, Chappell was the announcer, as well as the director of the first radio station in Syracuse, New York, WFBL. "FBL" stood for First Broadcast License. On Monday, November 9 1925, Ernest Chappell began writing a column for The Syracuse Herald entitled Riding the Waves With Chap. It has been said that the column was promotion for the broadcasting industry and the local station. "And so, until next week at this same time, I am quietly yours, Ernest Chappell."
