Evanna Lynch is a 14-year-old Irish actress, from Termonfeckin, County Louth, Ireland. It was revealed on February 2 2006 that she has been cast as Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
. She started filming at the end of February at Leavesden Studios in London.

Lynch is a huge Harry Potter fan and, according to her family, is "absolutely obsessed" with the series. In 2003, Lynch met Potter author J. K. Rowling and received a signed copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She was let out of hospital to do so. Lynch had told the author that she would never be cast in the film because she lived in a place called Termonfeckin, where it was too quiet for anything exciting. She received a letter from Rowling that responded, "Don't be too hard on Termonfeckin, it does have a lovely name."
