| Finlay Currie was a Scottish-born British actor on stage, screen and television. He was born in 1878 and died in 1968. His acting career began on the stage, and he made his first film (The Old Man) in 1932. His most famous film role was as the convict Abel Magwitch in David Lean's Great Expectations (1946), based on the novel by Charles Dickens. As a character actor, with a (usually) rich Scottish accent, his craggy features graced many memorable films, which include: Forty-Ninth Parallel (1941) Thunder Rock (1942) I Know Where I'm Going!
