Flora Chan is a popular Hong Kong television actress, whose rise to fame is quite unique from the other actresses in the industry. Rather than getting her start from a beauty pageant (i.e. the Miss Hong Kong Pageant, which churns out actresses for HK's most popular television station, TVB)or from modeling, Flora Chan was actually a reporter for the English language channel TVB Pearl. In the mid-1990s, television director Teng Dak Hei noticed Flora's work on TVB Pearl and asked her to participate in his upcoming series, the fifth installment to the popular TVB drama series, Files of Justice.

Flora Chan's strong performance in this series about young, yuppie lawyers caught the attention of the HK audience -- and TVB. She signed on as a TVB actress and has since made many other successful series, most notably Untraceable Evidence, playing the calm and collected forensics doctor, Pauline Lip; and in Healing Hands, a popular TVB series known for its cutting edge medical topics and its star-studded cast (including Lawrence Ng, Ada Choi, Bowie Lam, and William So).

In 2002, Flora reached a peak in her career winning the coveted "Most Favorite TV Actress" award presented annually by TVB. By this time in her career, Flora already had many popular series under her belt and was known and loved by audiences for her roles as cool professionals. Besides acting, Flora Chan has also successfully recorded 3 albums (entitled "She is Flora Chan," "Satisfied," and "Can Love"). Though Flora is no longer signed on with TVB as a full-time actress (meaning TVB is not her manager), she maintains a good relationship with the station, so future projects may not be out of the question.

HISTORY Flora Chan was born in Hong Kong and emigrated to the United States (Boston) at a young age. As a child, she had hoped to become a dancer, but because of an injury when she was a teenager, she was forced to abandon her dreams as a professional dancer. She attended Boston College and earned a degree in Journalism before returning to Hong Kong in the early 1990s with her then-husband. She and her husband divorced in 2000, and she has remained single since, although the Hong Kong paparazzi has romantically linked her with co-stars such as Bowie Lam and Moses Chan. Flora has denied these as mere rumors.
