| Frances Conroy (born November 13, 1953 in Monroe, Georgia, USA) is an American actress of Irish and Latvian descent. She is married to American actor Jan Munroe. Frances Conroy played Ruth Fisher in the 2001-05 HBO TV series Six Feet Under. She began her illustrious career on the road with John Houseman's The Acting Company and soon after made her screen debut in Manhattan directed by Woody Allen.
