| Fyodor Grigorievich Volkov (1729-1763) is known as the father of Russian theatre. A merchant's son, he established the first troupe of Russian actors in Yaroslavl in 1750. Two years later he was invited by Empress Elizabeth to perform at her court. In 1756 he helped Alexander Sumarokov to inaugurate the first permanent public theatre in St Petersburg. The Yaroslavl Theatre still bears his name. Volkov Volkov Volkov Volkov [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Fyodor Volkov ] Some related entries: Chris Tucker | J. C.
