Mann originally filmed Exorcist: The Beginning
, directed by Paul Schrader, but when the producers rejected the Shrader version of the film, Mann's character, Father Francis, had to be recast because of a scheduling conflict. The film went into release in 2004 with James D'Arcy in the role.
