Gayatri Joshi (born 20 March 1977) is a model turned Bollywood actress. Her first film, Swades
, gained her instant popularity.

Gayatri Joshi is a Maharashtrian, native Marathi speaking B.com graduate from Sydenham College, Mumbai. She began her modeling career in 1996 when she was still at college.

Gayatri married Vikas Oberoi in Bombay on 27 August, 2005.

Career

She was one of the last five in the Femina Miss India beauty pageant in 1999 and was chosen to represent India at the Miss International in Japan in the year 2000. Though she didn’t win the crown, it was a tremendous learning experience for her as she continually seeks to reinvent herself.

Her modeling assignments include the famous Hyundai ad with Shahrukh Khan and other ads for LG, Godrej, Sunsilk, Ponds, Philips, Bombay Dyeing and others. She appeared in music videos of Jagjit Singh’s Sagar Ki Kashti and Hansraj Hans’ Jhanjaria. Gayatri has also modeled for Seasons catalogue and calendar for the year 2001.

Gayatri made her Bollywood debut in December 2004 in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film Swades opposite Shahrukh Khan. The film created a mixed response from the audience.
