Glynis Barber (born 25 October, 1955) is a British actress, born and raised in South Africa. She was born Glynis van der Reit.

Acting since 1978, her popular breakthrough came with her role as Soolin in the BBC science fiction television programme, Blake's 7.

However, she is best known for her mid-1980s role of Sgt. Makepeace in the popular British police drama "Dempsey & Makepeace", where she met her husband, Michael Brandon.

Barber's career is notable for its unwavering professionalism, breadth and depth. Barber has a talent for delivering one-liners with the driest wit and timing accurate to the millisecond. Off stage, Barber's fans admire her chic elegance.
