Grant Shaud (born February 27, 1961) is an American actor born Edward Shaud III in Evanston, Illinois. However he was raised in Radnor, Pennsylvania. In 1983 he graduated with a Journalism degree from the University of Richmond. His first acting role in television was as a guest character named Jack on the show Kate & Allie, although he had done some stage work before then.

As an actor he is best known for his role as Miles Silverburg on the CBS television comedy Murphy Brown. Jane Leeves, who played his live in girlfriend on the show for a time, was his actual live-in girlfriend for much of the time she was on the show. He has the unfortunate distinction of being perhaps the only member of the main cast, including a few important guests, not to be nominated for an Emmy. The following all won or were nominated for Emmies: Faith Ford(4 times), Joe Regalbuto, Candice Bergen(multiple winner), Charles Kimbrough, Robert Pastorelli(listed as guest), Colleen Dewhurst(guest who won twice), Jay Thomas(guest who won twice), and Paul Reubens(briefly a recurring guest). He left in 1996 with his "boss" role on the show being taken over by Lily Tomlin. She also received no nominations for her work on the show.

In recent years he has also done some voice-over work in animation, most notably in the film Antz and the television series Batman: The Animated Series. He also had some notable guest roles. In The Drew Carey Show he played a character, again named Jack, who believed himself to be the devil. In Touched by an Angel he played a character named Ed. Mostly though he has not done anything as successful as his work on Murphy Brown.
