Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill (born May 5th, 1983 in Jersey, Channel Islands) is a British actor. He goes by Henry Cavill. Cavill attended Stowe School, a boarding school where he acted in many plays.

He has appeared in several movies since then, including 2002's The Count of Monte Cristo and the upcoming 2006 film Tristan & Isolde

He tried out for the lead role in Batman Begins
but lost out to Christian Bale. In 2005, he became one of the younger contenders to take over the role of James Bond and actually screentested for the part. The producers and director were torn between him and Daniel Craig, but in the end Cavill was considered too young. He also tried out the role of Superman in Superman Returns
, but lost it to Brandon Routh. In December edition of Empire Magazine, the magazine dubbed him 'unlucky' cast role actor, but he brushed it off and said that the publicities really brings his name out.
