Henry O'Neill (August 10, 1891-May 18, 1961) was a film actor known for playing grey-haired fathers, lawyers and similarly dignified roles during the 1930s and 1940s. He began his acting career on the theater stage, after dropping out of college to join a traveling theater company. He served in the military in World War I then returned to the stage. In the early 1930s he began appearing in films. His last film was the John Wayne starrer The Wings of Eagles
. Other films include the Frank Sinatra/Gene Kelly musical Anchors Aweigh
(1945) and The Reckless Moment
(1949). O'Neill died at the age of 69.
