| Iola Johnson was the first African-American journalist to anchor a television station in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She was co-anchor at Dallas' ABC affiliate WFAA-TV from the mid 1970s until the mid 1980s. After resigning from WFAA in 1984, Iola vanished from the broadcasting scene, resurfacing years later as a morning drive news reporter for a small AM staion in the Metroplex. In 2001, Iola returned to television, as she helped launch a new 4pm news program on KTVT in Dallas-Fort Worth with longtime friend and former WFAA colleague Tracy Rowlett. Iola has since left KTVT.
