Isaiah Washington IV (born 3 August, 1963), is an African American actor. A DNA test taken to determine his heritage showed that his father's side is Angolan and his mother's side is from Sierra Leone.

Born in Houston, Texas, he was one of the first graduates from Willowridge High School, Houston, in 1981. He served in the United States Air Force prior to beginning a career as a professional actor. He has appeared in numerous films, and his television roles include Dr. Preston Burke in Grey's Anatomy.

He married on 14 February, 1999. Isaiah and Jenisa Marie Washington have three children.
