Jamie Lynn Marie Spears (born April 4, 1991 in McComb, Mississippi) is an American actress and singer.

Biography

Jamie Lynn Spears grew up in Kentwood, Louisiana, with her parents, Jamie and Lynne. She is the younger sister of pop singer Britney Spears. When she was still a baby, she moved to New York City with her mother and sister to help her sister's career. Jamie Lynn still lives in Kentwood and currently attends Parklane Academy, located in McComb, Mississippi, where she is a freshman in high school. She is multi-talented, and has an interest in basketball, cheerleading, and hip hop. She also has a show called "Zoey 101" for children on Nickelodeon

Acting career

Spears appeared in 2001's Totally Britney Live and in a Pepsi television commercial in 2002. In the same year, she appeared briefly in the movie Crossroads
, as the younger version of the main character, Lucy, who was played by her older sister, Britney.

For two seasons, Spears was a cast member on the comedy-variety show All That
, which she obtained after publicly stating her desire to be on the show in an interview. Public outrage was spawned over that she can't act, and also accusations of nepotism arised. She left the show in 2004.

Spears currently stars in the Nickelodeon TV show Zoey 101. She stars as one of the first girls to enter a formerly all-boy boarding school. Zoey 101 drew record numbers with the premiere of the show, which gave the channel 1.6 million viewers age 9-14, its biggest viewership in the demographic for a premiere in eight years. Zoey 101 was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Children series.

Music career

Spears has said before in interviews that she has musical ambitions. In 2002, she sang guest vocals on Triple Image, a girls group cover of Cyndi Lauper's "(Hey Now) Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" which was released as a single to radio stations. Spears sings the theme song for Zoey 101, called "Follow Me", which was written by her sister, Britney Spears.
