Jason Miller,(April 22, 1939 – May 13, 2001) born John Anthony Miller in New York City to a devoutly Catholic Irish/Italian family, was an actor and writer.

Miller was launched into stardom in 1973 by winning a Pulitzer Prize for his play, "That Championship Season".

That same year, Miller was offered a role as a troubled priest in William Friedkin's horror film The Exorcist
. For his part, Miller was honored with an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor, however Miller's film career never gained much momentum.

Father of actor Jason Patric by wife Linda Gleason (daughter of Jackie Gleason), Miller continued to act occasionally in films that included The Ninth Configuration
, Toy Soldiers, The Exorcist III
and Rudy.

Was Irish on his father's side and Italian on his mother's side.

On May 13, 2001, the thrice-divorced Miller died of a heart attack during a meal at in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 62. His recent project was a revival of The Odd Couple for the where he was playing the role of Oscar Madison.

In 2004 actor Paul Sorvino, a longtime friend of Miller, was commissioned by the city of Scranton to create the bronze bust of the late thespian.
