| Jeanette Aw () born June 28, 1979, is a television actress from Singapore. Born Jeanette Aw Ee-Ping (欧燕苹), she attended Raffles Girls' Primary School, Crescent Girls' School, National Junior College and National University of Singapore consecutively. Aw now has a substantial fan base, one group of which is called "Jeanius", a pun on the actress' name and the word "genius". This fan group is personally acknowledged by Aw herself, and thus draws flocks of supporters from around Singapore. Jeanius organises fan gatherings with Aw annually, and this is one of the many activities that the Jeanius members look forward to, besides Aw's appearances on TV or elsewhere. Rise to fameStarting YearsJeanette Aw became a star when she emerged as the champion in a talent search contest organised by the now defunct television network, MediaWorks. She entertained audiences with her trademark fresh, youthful image. Jeanette 'jumped ship' to Mediaworks' rival TV station, MediaCorp in 2002, to become one of its most radiant young stars. She is seen as a potential successor for the respected title of Ah Jie (big-sister), now currently held by veteran actress Zoe Tay, in the future, in Caldecott Hill. In 2005, a problem arised. When Zoe Tay and Fann Wong retire from showbiz, it would take at least another 3 years from year 2006. By the time, Jeanette would be too old. She would be around 30 years old. Meanwhile, other actresses such as Joanne Peh and Rui En are catching up. They are younger and prettier than her. Their ages are 22 and 24 in year 2005 respectively, while Jeanette is 26 in year 2005.Aw gained recognition as an upcoming actress in the long running (125-episode) 2003 drama, "Holland Village", in which she portrayed Mo Jing Jing, a simple, slightly absent-minded but kind-hearted girl. RecognitionAw's meteoric rise was evident in her reception of the Best Newcomer Award in 2002, and Best Actress nominations in the 2003 and 2004 Star Awards for her roles in "Holland Village" and "A Child's Hope 2" respectively. Currently, she acts in Chinese drama serials on Mediacorp Channel 8. While she is not working, Aw enjoys swimming and dancing. Aw can also play a variety of instruments such as the piano, flute and saxophone. She has since stopped endorsing for SK Jewellery as Stefanie Sun has succeeded her as ambassador.Aw has also just finished filming her new drama, which is slated to air in June 2006. In this drama, she plays a "baddie" for the first time. SeriesMediacorp Channel U
