John Altman (born March 2 1952) is a British actor best known as "Nasty" Nick Cotton in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. He has played the role intermittantly from the very first episode in 1985-2001.

Before gaining fame as Nick Cotton, he appeared in small roles in many movies including, The First Great Train Robbery, Quadrophenia, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and An American Werewolf in London.
