John James is an American actor, best known to international audiences for playing Jeff Colby in both the prime-time soap opera Dynasty and its spin-off series The Colbys throughout the 1980s. Although popular with fans during the series' run, he has since made only occasional acting appearances on television since the program ended in 1989.

James real name is John James Anderson and he was born April 18 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the son of radio broadcaster Herb Oscar Anderson. He has been married since 1989 to former Miss Australia (1978) Denise Coward and they have two children.

A veteran of daytime soaps having appeared in Search For Tomorrow in the late 1970s, he recently returned to the genre playing Eric Decker in As The World Turns in 2003-2004.
