| John Lynch (born on December 26, 1961, in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland) is a Northern Irish actor. Born on Boxing Day in 1961, John Lynch attended St. Colman's College, an all-Catholic school. He grew up in a staunchly Catholic nationalist area (Newry in southern County Down). Lynch has said that his family was not political but was "affected" by The Troubles, as they are known in Ireland. His mother is Italian, and he is the brother of British-based actress of films and TV, Susan Lynch. Lynch has appeared in numerous films related to Northern Ireland's problems, such as Cal, In the Name of the Father, The Railway Station Man, Nothing Personal and Some Mother's Son, as well as the Irish-themed movie Evelyn, with Pierce Brosnan, Aidan Quinn and Julianna Margulies. He continues to act and has films in pre-production. He has been married to Mary McGuckian since 1997.
