| John Sessions (born January 11 1953 in Largs, North Ayrshire) is a Scottish actor best known for his comedy work in improvisation shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway?. A gifted impressionist, he worked on Spitting Image and later the surreal celeb soap opera Stella Street. He has also appeared on Have I Got News For You and QI. He appeared in the BBC adaptation of Gormenghast (2000) as the character Doctor Prunesquallor. He was also in the 2004 Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons. He made a guest appearance in a special webcast version of Doctor Who in a story called Death Comes to Time, in which he plays General Tannis.
