Kathleen York is an actor, singer, and Academy Award nominated songwriter. She is also known as Bird York.

Acting

In the television series The OC she plays the character of Renee Wheeler, mother to Lindsay Gardner.

Kathleen also had a recurring role on The West Wing as Congresswoman Andrea 'Andie' Wyatt, a Maryland Democrat who was formerly married to Toby Ziegler, one of the main characters. In the fourth season, her character gave birth to his twins.

Singing-Songwriting

Her single, "In the Deep", from her album The Velvet Hour was featured in the 2004 movie Crash
and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song. On March 5, 2006, York performed the song live at the 78th Academy Awards ceremony.

Chart Success

After years in the indie circuit as a much respected and acclaimed off-kilter artist, York finally saw global recognition come with her Academy Award performance. The nominated track, "In the Deep", debuted #64 on the Billboard chart.

York was signed to EMI Narada soon after her nomination was announced. Her first major label album, Wicked Little High was a compliation of old and new tracks from York's substantial indie back catalog, including In the Deep. The album was released on the 21st of Feburary 2006 in North America.
