| Kay Medford (September 14, 1914 - April 10, 1980), was an Oscar-nominated American character actress from New York. She was the original Mama in Bye, Bye Birdie, starring opposite of Dick van Dyke on Broadway. In 1964, she was nominated for a Tony Award for the show of Funny Girl. She was nominated for an Academy Award in 1968 for Funny Girl, her only nomination at the Academy. She lost to Ruth Gordon, however.
